This page provides links to resources held and/or published by the AFA (library and Adoption Australia), as well as links to adoption education resources, email support groups, government adoption services units etc.

AFA Library
The AFA Library resources include books, magazine, videos, DVDS and conference papers, providing information on a range of adoption topics and issues. Borrowing rights are available to current financial members of the AFA.

Books maybe borrowed for approximately 4 weeks. To borrow from the library or extend the borrowing time, contact the AFA librarian - Rosetta Capper.

The AFA librarian takes a selection of library resources to each AFA morning tea. As new resources are added to the library, these will be made available to AFA members. Notice of the new additions to the library will be listed on the AFA website and in the ACT pages (yellow) of Adoption Australia.

Donations of relevant books, videos or articles to the library are always welcome, as are suggestions for purchase.

Adoption Australia
Adoption Australia is a quarterly magazine edited and published by the Adoptive Families Association of the ACT (AFA), is published four times a year and distributed to all members of the following organisations:

  • Adoptive Families Association of the ACT (AFA)
  • Australian Society for Intercountry Aid (Children) (ASIAC) NSW
  • World Families Australia SA (WFA)

The magazine is also distributed to libraries, agencies, state government adoption units and private subscribers.

Material for Adoption Australia is gathered from a wide range of sources, most importantly from adoptive families and adoptees. Readers are invited to submit letters, articles, poetry, photos or details of social events.

The magazine has coloured inserts for organisation specific information such as coffee morning, playgroups and committee meetings. Copy for these sections of the magazine should be sent direct to the relevant editors.

The deadline for the next magazine - Spring 2008 is Monday 4 August 2008.

AFA Links
Educate the educators information to be used by parents and teachers to assist teachers and childcare workers become more aware of the needs of internationally adopted children. Included is information on special needs, bibliographies of books and lesson plans about adoption.
