Hi, I’m Karin MacDonald, and this is my first year as President of the Adoptive Families Association. My husband Brendan and I have a gorgeous five-year-old son, who we brought home from the Philippines in 2013. We are now officially waiting to bring home a little brother or sister.
This is my second year on the committee, and I am very excited about the helping with the role that the AFA plays in supporting families in the adoption and permanent care community in Canberra and region. I hope to bring my experience in working in government to getting better communication for our families – both those waiting, and those already home.
I was adopted from South Korea at six months of age and was raised in a small country town in NSW. In 2010 I was fortunate enough to travel to Busan to meet my birth family.
I began my involvement with AFA last year, after living abroad for two years. I'm looking forward to working with the Committee to ensure another wonderful year for our AFA members.
Hi, my name is Janine. My husband and I are the proud and busy parents of two beautiful children from China. Cheng Rui is 10 years old, adopted from Nanning in 2005. Samuel or Sam as he likes to be called, is a lively 6 year old boy from Huzhou, adopted in 2008.
This is my second year as Treasurer and being on the AFA Committee and I look forward to working hard in my assigned role.
We have four General Committee members.
